To comply with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and general duties under the HSE at Work etc. Act 1974, employers must ensure that all forklift operators they employ are adequately trained and when necessary, provide for their additional or refresher training.
Bennie Equipment can provide accredited forklift operator training to ITSSAR & RTITB for Novice and Experienced Operators, as well as Operator Refresher training on various types of trucks. Conversion courses are also available for operators who hold certification on one truck type, but now need to operate other types.
Training will normally be carried out at the customer’s premises to maintain continuity of equipment used, although if this is not possible, training can be carried out at the training centre here in Kettering, Northants.

All operator training courses are designed to train the basic skill requirements and associated job safety knowledge of basic Lift Truck operation, this is to the nationally recognised levels of skill, ability & safety as laid down by accrediting bodies and as in the Approved Code of Practice (L116) relating to section 2 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
All lift truck operator training courses will carry with them the following documentation as a minimum. These will carry all the information required by HSE, EHO’s insurance companies, etc.
Our training is validated by the Six HSC Recognised Accrediting Bodies- ITSSAR, RTITB, CITB, LANTRA, AITT & NPORS
These standards have been developed and adopted by HSCS as a means of ensuring national, uniform standards for the testing lift truck operators. All the accrediting bodies recognised by the Health & Safety Commission as competent to accredit and monitor organisation which train instructors and/ or train, test and certificate operators, have approved it.
The test will only be administered by accredited HSCS trainers, instructor/ examiner in accordance with the Health & Safety Commission/ Executive Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) and supplementary guidance “Rider-operated lift trucks: operator training.”
Candidates must attain pass levels in all three examinations (Practical, Knowledge & Pre-Operational Checks) to receive Certification.
Certification will be issued to candidates who can demonstrate the required levels of skill, safety and knowledge. The certification issued is that referred to in the HSE ACoP.
This gives the required details of the operators training dates, the venue, the truck type, etc..
This is a positive identification document that carries the registered operators photograph. This certificate is also signed by the training providers authorised signatory and then laminated to avoid tampering and/or fraudulent use.
This is issued in addition to the certificate. This card is designed for the operator to carry at all times.
This particular ID is open for up to five years.
Due to the accreditation process, quality systems and the registration process of operators, it can take up to two weeks for certification to be forwarded to clients, therefore this temporary pass notification is issued. The temporary pass notification duration is limited to 14 days from issue.
